Avansce is a Neue Schule Group company that has its roots in the advancement of technology for bits and bitting. The company was founded by Dr. Graham Cross who is the lead innovator for the Neue Schule range of bits and who developed the core curriculum for the Neue Schule Academy. It was through the research for the Academy that Graham recognised the huge potential for applying advanced signal processing algorithms to rein tension data. Unlike basic collection and display of the rein tension data, more advanced signal processing tools can extract from the data the hidden quality of interaction between the horse and rider. Engineers are familiar with the so-called signal-to-noise ratio and this parameter lies at the core of the approach. A patent application has been filed.
Graham is a regular guest speaker at equestrian colleges across the UK and has contributed to panel discussions organised by the British Horse Society and Gillian Higgins’ Horses Inside Out conference. Graham holds over 100 scientific papers and patents and has held a tenured academic position at the University of Durham since 1990. Graham owns and rides Fils de Figaro (Victor) by the Oldenburg foundation stallion Figaro.
